Songlines were a band from the late 1990s that gradually evolved from as series of jams in John Cratchley’s cellar/studio. The line-up was:
David Hopewell – Guitar and vocals
John Cratchley – Guitar and vocals
Humphrey Davies – Bass
Rick Joslin – Drums
The jams inspired a sudden outburst of song-writing by David and John resulting in a CD, Ten Miles of Stinking Mud. This was recorded on John’s home-made multi-track studio and released in 1999 and followed by a series of gigs. Quite a few more tracks were written and partly recorded but events conspired against the production of a second album. John moved to France and the band was no more.
